St. Andrews Church - Windows

09-DSC_0074

South West Nave

Here we see St Aiden with a deer, underneath is a monk teaching young children. He founded a monastic cathedral on the island of Lindisfarne, served as its first bishop, and travelled ceaselessly throughout the countryside, spreading the gospel to both the Anglo-Saxon nobility and to the socially disenfranchised (including children and slaves). The window reads - In memory of a devoted husband Tristiam Hepple died 7th November 1979. “Thy will be done” Mr. Hepple built and lived in Priory Vale cottage on the church bank, the window was installed by his wife Margaret Elizabeth. The artist is Sep Waugh, his first window in the church dated 1982.
